If the selected seating position is equipped with a switchable automatic locking retractor (ALR), remove the seat belt by following the instructions below.
- Loosen the adjusters on the lower straps and on the child restraint tether strap so that it is easier to attach the hooks or connectors to the vehicle anchors.
- Place the child restraint between the lower anchors for that seating position. If the second-row seat can be folded, you may fold the seatback and/or raise the head restraint (if adjustable) for a better fit. If the rear seat can move forward and backward in the vehicle, you may move it to the rearmost position to create room for the child restraint. You may also move the front seat forward to create room for the child restraint.
- Attach the lower hooks or connectors of the child restraint to the lower anchors at the selected seating position.
- If the child restraint is equipped with a tether strap, attach it to the top tether anchor.
- Tighten all straps by pushing the child restraint rearward and downward into the seat. Remove slack from the straps in accordance with the child restraint manufacturer's instructions.
- Make sure the child restraint is installed securely by pulling it forward and rearward at the belt path. It must not move more than 1 inch (25.4 mm) in any direction.
