Installing Child Restraints Using the Vehicle Seat Belt
Child restraint systems are designed to be secured to vehicle seats using the lap belt or a portion of the lap/shoulder belt.
The passenger seat belts are equipped with a switchable Automatic Locking Retractor (ALR), which holds the shoulder belt webbing snugly against the child restraint so that a locking clip is not needed. The ALR can be switched to locked mode by pulling the webbing all the way out of the retractor, then allowing the webbing to retract back into the retractor. When locked, the ALR will make a clicking sound as the webbing retracts.
Refer to the description of "Automatic Locking Mode" in the section "Switchable Automatic Locking Retractors (ALR)".
