SYNC Owner Account
Why do I need a SYNC Owner account?
- It is required to stay informed of the latest SYNC software updates available for download.
- Access customer support for any questions you may have.
Driving Restrictions
For your safety, some speed-dependent features are limited when your vehicle is moving faster than 5 km/h.
Safety Information
When using SYNC:
- Do not use electronic devices if power cords or cables are frayed, split, or damaged. Route cords and cables so they do not interfere with pedals, seats, compartments, or safe driving.
- Do not leave electronic devices in the vehicle in extreme conditions, as this may cause damage. See your device manual for more information.
- Do not attempt to service or repair the system. Contact an authorized dealer.
Privacy Information
When a cellular phone is connected to SYNC, the system creates a profile within your vehicle linked to that cellular phone. This profile is created to offer you more cellular features and to operate more efficiently. Among other things, this profile may contain data about your phonebook, text messages (read and unread), and call history, including call history recorded when your cellular phone was not connected to the system. In addition, when a media device is connected, the system creates and stores an index of supported media content. The system also records a short development log of approximately 10 minutes of all recent system activity. The phone profile, log, and other system data may be used to improve the system and help diagnose any problems that may occur.
The cellular profile, media device index, and development log remain in the vehicle unless you delete them, and are normally accessible only in the vehicle when a cellular phone or media player is connected. If you no longer plan to use the system or vehicle, we recommend that you perform a master reset to erase all stored information.
No one can access system data without special equipment and access to the vehicle's SYNC module. Ford Motor Company and Ford of Canada will not access system data for any purpose other than those described, without consent, by court order, or as required by law enforcement, other government authorities, or other third parties acting with legal authority. Other parties may seek access to information independently of Ford Motor Company and Ford of Canada. For more privacy information, see the 911 Assist section.
