Shift Cable Adjustment
PROCEDURE
1. Start the engine, move the selector lever to the “R” position, and verify that reverse gear engages. If reverse does not engage, adjust the cable. Stop the engine.
2. Remove the center console (see Section Body).

3. Move the selector lever to the “N” position, then loosen the cable adjuster locknut.
4. Push the cable forward to the stop, then release it. The transaxle should shift to the “P” position. Pull the cable back one click so that it locks in the new position corresponding to the “R” position.
5. Insert a 6.1 mm pin through the special hole in the mounting bracket of the shift lever base, located on the driver's side of the lever boot cover. After the pin is inserted through the hole in the bracket, align the lever base and insert the pin through the hole in its base. The assembly is now locked.

6. Install the cable end onto the lever bolt.
7. Tighten the lock nut and secure the cable in this position.
8. Remove the rod securing the assembly.
9. Start the engine and check that the shift control assembly operates correctly.
