Adding Engine Oil (gasoline engine models)

To add engine oil, remove the oil filler cap located on the valve cover. Slowly add the required amount of engine oil, taking care not to spill it. Wipe up any spilled oil immediately. Spilled oil can damage components located in the engine compartment.

Install the cap in place and tighten it securely. Warm up the engine, then turn it off and wait about three minutes, after which check the engine oil level using the dipstick. Do not overfill the oil above the upper mark on the dipstick, as this may damage the engine.
Recommended Engine Oil
For vehicles sold in Europe
Engine oil plays a primary role in ensuring the performance and durability of the engine. Use only high-quality oil. Honda strongly recommends using Honda engine oils meeting ACEA A1/B1, ACEA A3/B3, or ACEA A5/B5 throughout the vehicle's service life.
To correctly determine the viscosity of the engine oil suitable for the vehicle (according to SAE/ACEA standards), refer to the chart below.

*: Except "Type R" version
Operating the engine on the recommended engine oils improves the vehicle's fuel economy.

Use high-quality API engine oils with a service rating of SL or higher.
Operating the engine on such engine oils improves the vehicle's fuel economy.
Additives
Honda vehicle components do not require the use of additional additives added to the oil or operating fluids. The use of various additives may adversely affect the performance and durability of the engine and transmission.
