Automatic ACC System Cancellation

~1min read

When the ACC system is automatically canceled, three warning chimes sound and the message ACC OFF (ACC system off) appears on the multi-function information display for 3 seconds.

The ACC system is automatically canceled if any of the following conditions occur:

• Vehicle speed decreases to approximately 25 km/h.

• Adverse weather conditions: rain, fog, snowfall, etc.

• The radar sensor built into the radiator grille is dirty.

• The vehicle ahead cannot be recognized by the system.

• Abnormal tire condition or tire slip.

• Continuous driving in mountainous terrain or off-road.

• Sharp steering wheel operation.

• Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) or Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA) is operating.

• Trailer Stability Assist is active.

• The VSA or ABS malfunction indicator comes on.

For vehicles with manual transmission

• If you ignore the recommended gear shift indicator on the tachometer to shift to the next higher or lower gear, the ACC system will cancel after approximately 10 seconds.

• The tachometer needle enters the red zone.

• Engine speed drops below 1000 rpm.

• The clutch pedal is depressed and held for a certain period of time.

• Neutral is temporarily selected when shifting to the next higher or lower gear.

If the above conditions have caused the ACC system to cancel, wait until driving conditions improve, then press the RES/ACCEL button to resume system operation. The vehicle will then return to the previously set speed.

If you turn the ignition switch to the ACCESSORY (I) or LOCK (0) position after the ACC system has cancelled automatically, the set speed will be erased from memory and must be set again (page 308).
