Fuel Lines and Hoses

~1min read

Fuel lines and hoses deliver fuel from the fuel tank to the fuel rail and injectors and return excess fuel to the tank. Fuel lines fastened to the underbody must be inspected periodically for dents and deformation, since narrowing of their passages may restrict fuel flow.

Fuel lines and hoses also transfer fuel vapor from the fuel tank to the activated carbon canister, where it is collected while the engine is off. After the engine starts and warms up to operating temperature, the engine control module opens the solenoid valve, and fuel vapor from the canister is drawn into the engine and burned.
