Battery
A battery is a device that stores energy in chemical form, which can later be used as electricity.
A battery works because two different metals, placed in an acid solution, create a potential difference, which generates an electric current.
PROCEDURE
1. Maintenance-free batteries are installed on vehicles.
2. It is not necessary to add distilled water to the battery.

3. The battery is completely sealed except for small vent holes in the cover.
Battery Testing
PROCEDURE
1. Inspect the battery case for external damage that could cause electrolyte loss. Determine the cause of the damage. Clean the battery with a solution of baking soda in water.
2. Replace the battery.
3. Check the specific gravity of the electrolyte.
4. Correct the specific gravity reading for electrolyte temperature.
5. Above 1.100
Slowly charge the battery.
Charge at a current of no more than 5 A for 14 hours, then load test the battery.
6. 1.100–1.220
Recharge the battery.
Observe the charging procedure and precautions.
7. Above 1.220
Load test the battery.
8. Load test the battery.
9. Discharge the battery at 200 A for 15 seconds, then check the battery voltage.
10. Above 9.6 V
Battery is in good condition.
11. 9.6–6.5 V
Quick-charge the battery, then load test it.
If battery voltage is still below 9.6 V after recharging and discharging, replace the battery.
12. Below 6.5 V
Replace the battery.
