STARTING AND OPERATING

Electronic Sway Bar Disconnect — if equipped

~2min read

Your vehicle may be equipped with an electronic sway bar disconnect system. This system allows increased front suspension articulation for off-road driving.

This system is controlled by the SWAY BAR switch located on the instrument panel (to the right of the steering column).

ROTARY SWITCH

Press the SWAY BAR switch to activate the system. Press the switch again to deactivate the system. The Sway Bar indicator light (located in the instrument cluster) illuminates when the bar is disconnected. The Sway Bar indicator light will flash during the transition or when activation conditions are not met. The sway bar must remain in the on-road mode under normal driving conditions.

To disconnect the sway bar, shift into either 4WD High or 4WD Low and press the SWAY BAR switch to enter off-road mode. The Sway Bar indicator light will flash until the sway bar is fully disconnected.

NOTE:

The stabilizer bar/sway bar may be locked by torque due to differences in height between the left and right suspension. This condition is related to road surface irregularities or vehicle loading. To disconnect/reconnect the stabilizer bar/sway bar, the right and left halves of the bar must be aligned. This alignment may require driving the vehicle onto a level surface or rocking it from side to side.

To return to road mode, press the SWAY BAR switch again.
