Description
The Camshaft Position Sensor (CMPS) is a Hall effect sensor and detects the camshaft position using a Hall element. It works in conjunction with the Crankshaft Position Sensor (CKPS) and identifies the piston position of each cylinder, which the CKPS cannot detect. Two CMPS sensors are installed on the cylinder head cover for Bank 1 and Bank 2, respectively, and use a target wheel installed on the camshaft. As the target wheel passes the Hall sensor, the magnetic field in the sensor changes. The sensor then switches the signal, generating a square wave.
