Rail Pressure Sensor (RPS) Description and Operation

~1min read

Description

The Rail Pressure Sensor (RPS) is installed on the fuel rail and measures the instantaneous fuel pressure in the delivery pipe. The sensing element (semiconductor element) built into the sensor converts the pressure signal into voltage. Using this signal, the ECM controls the correct injection volume and timing, and adjusts fuel pressure through the fuel pressure regulator valve if the target pressure and the actual pressure calculated from the RPS output signal differ.
