Inspection

Diagnosis Using KDS

  1. In the body electrical system, faults can be quickly diagnosed using the Korean Diagnostic System (KDS).

The Diagnostic System (KDS) provides the following information.

    1. Self-Diagnosis: Checks for malfunctions and Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs).

    2. Current Data: Checks the input/output status of the system.

    3. Actuation Test: Checks the operating condition of the system.

    4. Additional Function: Controls other functions, including system setting parameters and zero point adjustment.

  2. Select "Vehicle Model" and "Telematics System" to inspect in order using the tester.

  3. Select the "Current Data" menu to check the current input/output data.

E-Call Test Mode

Press the SOS TEST button to activate the voice guidance and test the E-Call system according to the instructions.

In the Test Call step, which is the final step of the test mode, press the SOS button following the voice guidance to send the faulty component data to the call center.

To exit the test mode, press the SOS TEST button again during the voice guidance.

  1. Test mode operating conditions:

    1. The vehicle battery is connected properly.

    2. One minute has passed after ignition ON.

    3. The vehicle remains stationary for 1 minute or more.

  2. Conditions preventing test mode operation:

    1. A PSAP call is in progress.

    2. Callback Mode: After a successful call, the E-Call system enters callback mode and stands by for 120 minutes to receive calls from the call center.

    3. Test mode is automatically terminated when the vehicle speed reaches 1 km/h or more, or after traveling 300 m or more.

    4. Less than two minutes have passed since the previous test call was completed.

  3. Test mode operation sequence (voice guidance):

    1. LED Test

    2. Speaker Test

    3. MIC Test

    4. BUB (Back-Up Battery built into eCall unit) Test (No separate notification is given if the BUB is in normal condition.)

    5. Test Call (Pressing the SOS button sends the test result to the PSAP.)
