Hill Start Assist (HAC) System
Hill Start Assist is a convenience function. Its main purpose is to prevent the vehicle from rolling back when starting on a hill. The Hill Start Assist maintains the brake pressure applied by the driver when stopping for approximately 2 seconds after the brake pedal is released.
During this period, the driver presses the accelerator pedal to start moving.
Brake pressure is reduced as soon as the system detects that the driver intends to drive away.
WARNING
The Hill-start Assist Control (HAC) is active for only 2 seconds. The driver must always remember that the vehicle may roll back, and an accident with objects or people may occur if the brake pressure built up is insufficient when driving on a slope.
NOTICE
- HAC does not operate when the shift lever is in the P (Park) or the transmission is in the N (Neutral) position.
- HAC will be active even if ESC is turned off, but it will not operate if the Electronic Stability Control system malfunctions.
