ESS: Emergency Stop Signal (if equipped)

~1min read

The Emergency Stop Signal warns the driver behind the vehicle if the vehicle stops suddenly or the ABS is activated during braking. (The system activates when the vehicle speed is above 55 km/h and the vehicle deceleration exceeds 7 m/s² or the ABS is activated during emergency braking.)

When the vehicle speed drops below 40 km/h and ABS operation has ended or the emergency braking situation no longer exists, the stop lamps flash.

DANGER

The Emergency Stop Signal (ESS) does not operate when the hazard warning lights are already on.
