WARNING
- Each time you leave or park the vehicle, apply the parking brake as far as possible and shift the transmission fully into the P (Park) position. If vehicles are not secured with the transmission fully in Park and the parking brake applied, there is a risk that they may move unintentionally, which could cause injury to yourself or others.
- When parking a vehicle, always fully apply the parking brake so that the vehicle does not move unintentionally and injure occupants or pedestrians.
- Stellen Sie vor dem Losfahren sicher, dass die Feststellbremse vollständig gelöst ist und die Kontrollleuchte für Feststellbremse nicht mehr leuchtet.
- When driving through water, the brakes may get wet. You may also get the brakes wet when washing the vehicle. Wet brakes can be dangerous! Your vehicle will not stop as quickly if your brakes are wet. Wet brakes may also cause the vehicle to pull to one side. To dry the brakes, lightly apply the brake pedal until normal braking performance is restored; be careful to maintain control of the vehicle while doing so. If the brake function does not return to normal, stop as soon as it is safe to do so and have your vehicle checked by a specialized workshop. Kia recommends contacting a Kia dealer or service partner.
- Do not disengage the clutch or shift to neutral on downhill slopes to let the vehicle roll downhill. This is extremely dangerous. Always keep a gear engaged. Use the brake to reduce speed, then shift to a lower gear to use the engine braking effect and maintain a suitable speed.
- Do not rest your foot on the brake pedal while driving. If you rest your foot on the brake pedal, dangerous situations may occur, as the brakes may overheat and lose braking performance. In addition, this leads to increased brake wear.
- If a tire loses air while driving, brake the vehicle gently and keep the vehicle straight while coasting. When the vehicle speed has been reduced sufficiently and conditions permit, drive to the side of the road and stop at a safe location.
- If your vehicle is equipped with an automatic/dual clutch transmission, do not let the vehicle creep forward. To prevent creeping forward, keep the brake pedal firmly depressed after the vehicle has come to a stop.
- Be careful when parking on downhill slopes. Firmly apply the parking brake and shift the selector lever to P (Park). If your vehicle is parked on a downhill slope, turn the front wheels toward the curb to prevent the vehicle from rolling. If your vehicle is parked on an uphill slope, turn the front wheels so they point away from the curb to prevent the vehicle from rolling. If there is no curb or the vehicle must be prevented from rolling for other reasons, block the wheels.
- Under certain conditions, the parking brake may freeze in the applied position. This is most likely when snow or ice has accumulated on the rear brakes or when the brakes are wet. If there is a risk of the parking brake freezing, apply the parking brake temporarily while shifting into P (Park) (automatic/DCT) or first gear (manual), and chock the rear wheels so that the vehicle cannot roll away. Then release the parking brake.
- Do not hold the vehicle on slopes by using the accelerator. This may cause transmission overheating. Always use the brake pedal or the parking brake.
