Description and Operation

Power Window Safety Function

If the power window main switch on the driver's door is pressed, the safety function is activated.

  1. Conditions for the Safety Function

When the window is closing, if a force of 100 N or more is detected (using a 10 N/mm spring), the window reverses and opens again.

  2. Window Opening Travel Length (except when the automatic Close switch is held)

    • The window moves to a position between 4 and 250 mm from the top of the center pillar.

→ The window moves to a position 300 mm from the top of the B-pillar.

    • The window moves to a position more than 250 mm from the top of the center pillar.

→ The window moves down to the lower stop when the total length of the caught object + 50 mm above the lowest window position is exceeded.

  3. Window Closing Travel Length (when the automatic Close switch is held)

    • If an obstruction blocks the window while the automatic close switch is held.

→ The window moves 25 mm in the direction opposite to the obstruction.

    • Automatic closing occurs 5 seconds after the above operation. Operation is not available.

→ If the automatic close switch is held, the window closes manually (without the safety function).

  4. Not applicable to the area with safety functions.

The safety function is not available within 4 mm of the top of the window frame.

Power Window Initialization

  1. Battery Connection Initialization

If battery power is disconnected for more than 5 minutes, the power window safety switch must be re-initialized.

    1. Window Operation Before Initialization

      • Manual window close/open function is available.

      • Automatic open/close is not available.

(When the automatic open/close switch is pressed, the window opens/closes manually.)

    2. INITIALIZATION

Close the open window, then press and hold the switch with the window fully closed for more than 0.2 seconds.

(If the window closing operation is started while the window is fully closed, initialization may fail.)

    3. If the power window safety function is initialized in a locked state, the following conditions occur.

      • Safety function does not operate.

    4. A Hall sensor is used to store the window position. It determines the window position and direction of movement. The ECU recognizes the highest window position and sets this position as "0".

    5. Deinitialization

The ECU will be deinitialized if all of the following conditions are met. After deinitialization is complete, automatic closing occurs and the safety function is not activated.

      Deinitialization Conditions

      a.

Repeat the window down operation 15 times in succession.

      b.

Power supply is interrupted with the engine running.

      b.

Driver door open, ignition off and window stopped -> Within 2 s ignition on -> Within 5 s after ignition on, give the manual open signal 3 times -> deinitialization complete (power off). If it does not turn on within 2 s or the process fails, or it is not completed within 5 s, the deinitialization must be repeated from the beginning.

  2. Initialize Safe Mode

Prevention of engine overheating; a software function used to prevent engine overheating (but EEPROM data must be stored in the ECU).

    1. When the window opens and closes automatically and the engine is faulty, the window switch operates in safety mode for the user's safety; it may enter the safety mode.

    2. Power Window Operation in Guard Mode

      • Automatic/manual open function is available.

      • Automatic/manual close function is not available.

(If automatic close/open is activated, the window moves only 20 mm and then stops.)
