Freeing a Stuck Vehicle

~1min read

If the vehicle is stuck in snow, sand, or mud, turn the steering wheel left and right to clear the area around the front wheels. Then shift vehicles with a manual transmission alternately between reverse (R) and first gear (1), and vehicles with an automatic/dual clutch transmission between R (reverse) and a forward gear. Do not overspin the drive wheels. If the vehicle cannot be freed after several attempts, leave the vehicle or tow it out of the snow or mud to avoid overheating the engine and possible transmission damage.

DANGER

Repeated unsuccessful attempts to free the vehicle may overheat the engine and cause damage to the transmission and tires.

WARNING

Wheel Spin

Do not allow the drive wheels to spin, especially at speeds above 56 km/h. Spinning the wheels at high speed while the vehicle is stationary may overheat the tires and cause damage, which may injure bystanders.

NOTICE

ESC must be turned off before driving.

WARNING

If the vehicle is stuck in snow, mud, sand, etc., you may try to free it by driving alternately forward and reverse. Apply as described above. Do not continue driving when people or objects are near the vehicle. The vehicle may suddenly move forward or backward when shifting gears, which may injure people or damage objects.
