LCD display for transmission temperature and warning message

~4min read

Getriebetemperaturanzeige

  • Wählen Sie den Tageskilometerzählermodus auf dem LCD-Display aus und wechseln Sie zur Getriebetemperaturanzeige, um die Temperatur des Doppelkupplungsgetriebes anzuzeigen.
  • Try to drive in a way that prevents overheating or excessively high temperature from appearing. If the transmission overheats, a warning message appears on the LCD display. Follow the displayed message.

WARNING

- Normal (up to mark 10)

• To maintain optimal shift performance, drive so that the temperature gauge stays below the mark (below mark 10).

WARNING

The temperature gauge may show a rapidly rising temperature if excessive clutch slip occurs due to repeated starting and stopping in heavy traffic or stop-and-go driving, or when the vehicle is held on a slope for a long time using the accelerator (hill hold). To avoid excessive temperature rise, use the brake when driving slowly or holding the vehicle on a slope.

- Before entering high/overheat range (between marks 10 and 14)

• This zone indicates that the DCT clutch temperature is entering the high/overheat range. If the clutch temperature is in this zone (between 10 and 14), drive so that you minimize clutch slip and the temperature gauge drops below mark 10.

• If the DCT clutch temperature continues to rise and reaches 14, a warning tone sounds and the temperature gauge is shown on the instrument cluster. The DCT warning message is not displayed.

- High/overheat (between marks 15 and 16)

• This zone indicates that the DCT clutch temperature has entered the high/overheat range. The DCT warning tone sounds, the warning message is shown on the instrument cluster, and the temperature gauge is hidden from the instrument cluster. Follow the displayed warning message.

• To check the DCT clutch temperature status in case of overheating, switch to the temperature gauge screen by selecting the trip computer mode. You can then check the clutch temperature status.

DCT Warning

This warning message appears when the vehicle is moving slowly on a slope and the system detects that the brake pedal is not being pressed.

Steep Roads

Uphill driving and driving on steep roads:

  • Verwenden Sie die Fuß- oder Feststellbremse, um das Fahrzeug an einer Steigung anzuhalten.
  • In stop-and-go traffic on a downhill road, keep a safe distance before moving the vehicle. Then hold the vehicle on the slope with the foot brake.
  • If you stop the vehicle on a hill by using the accelerator pedal, or drive slowly with the brake pedal not pressed, the clutch and transmission may overheat and be damaged. In this case, a warning message appears on the LCD display.
  • As long as the warning is shown on the LCD display, you must press the foot brake.
  • If you ignore the warning, it could lead to transmission damage.

Zu hohe Getriebetemperatur

  • Under certain conditions, such as repeated stop-and-go driving on steep roads, sudden starts or sudden acceleration, or other extreme driving conditions, the temperatures of the clutch and transmission can increase excessively. As a result, the clutch and transmission may overheat.
  • If the clutch overheats, the safety protection mode is activated and the gear indicator on the instrument cluster flashes; at the same time, a warning tone sounds. The message "Transmission overheated. Stop safely" appears on the LCD display, and the vehicle may stop moving forward.
  • In this case, stop in a safe place, keep the engine running, apply the brakes, move the shift lever to Park (P), and wait until the transmission has cooled down.
  • If you ignore this warning, the driving behavior may deteriorate further. Jerky, frequent, or harsh shifts may occur. To restore normal driving conditions, stop the vehicle, apply the foot brake, or move the shift lever to Park (P). Let the transmission cool down for a few minutes with the engine running before driving again.
  • Drive the vehicle as carefully as possible.

Überhitztes Getriebe

  • If you continue driving and the clutch temperature reaches the maximum limit, the warning message "Transmission too hot! Park with engine running" appears on the display. In this case, the clutch is deactivated until it has cooled down to normal operating temperature.
  • The warning message shows how long the transmission needs to cool down.
  • In this case, stop in a safe place, keep the engine running, apply the brakes, move the shift lever to Park (P), and wait until the transmission has cooled down.
  • If the message "Transmission cooled down. Continue driving." appears, you can continue driving the vehicle.
  • Drive the vehicle as carefully as possible.

If any of the warning messages on the LCD display stays on, have the system checked by a qualified workshop for your safety. Kia recommends visiting a Kia Authorized Dealer/Service Partner.
