GENERAL INFORMATION

For carburetor engines without catalytic converter only.

Removal

PROCEDURE

1. Remove the distributor.

2. Remove the rotor.

Hitachi Distributor

3. Make a mark on the part of the toothed core facing up.

4. Remove the core and pull out the pin. If necessary, the rotor can be removed.

5. Carefully disconnect the wires from the module, noting their arrangement.

6. Remove the screws and remove the module.

Mitsubishi Distributor

7. Remove the distributor cap.

8. Disconnect the wires, remove the screws and pull out the pin.

9. Remove the screws and remove the integrated module.

Installation

PROCEDURE

1. Install in the reverse order.

2. On the Hitachi distributor, check the air gap in the pickup coil between the core and the stator, which should be 0.3–0.5 mm.

3. If necessary, adjust by loosening the screws and moving the stator.
