GENERAL INFORMATION
CARBURETED ENGINES WITHOUT CATALYTIC CONVERTER: The ignition system of these engines consists of an ignition coil and a distributor with an integral igniter, which is triggered by a magnetic pickup and produces high-voltage pulses at the coil. The system includes a vacuum advance unit, whose circuit incorporates a thermo-vacuum valve that maintains optimal ignition timing while the engine warms up.CARBURETED ENGINES WITH CATALYTIC CONVERTER: The ignition system is integrated with the fuel system. Both systems are controlled by the ECC processor unit. The ignition coil and the crankshaft position sensor are built into the distributor. Based on signals from this and other sensors, the ECC unit calculates the optimal ignition advance angle and triggers a power transistor module that interrupts the current in the coil secondary winding. The system includes a vacuum advance unit whose circuit incorporates two thermo-vacuum valves.
