Battery
GENERAL INFORMATION
The battery is located on the left side of the engine compartment. InspectionPROCEDURE
Standard Batteries1. For vehicles with low mileage, it is recommended to check the electrolyte specific gravity every 3 months.
2. If a battery fault is suspected, compare the specific gravity of the electrolyte in each cell; it should not differ by more than 0.
04. Otherwise, the plates are damaged or electrolyte is leaking.
3. If the specific gravity differs within the specified limits but the battery is discharged, it must be charged.
Maintenance-Free Batteries
4. The battery condition is determined with a voltmeter or by the indicator.
5. The battery condition is determined by the color of the indicator, which depends on the battery type (consult when purchasing).
6. When checking voltage with a voltmeter, at least 6 hours must pass after the last trip. Otherwise, turn on the high beams for 30 s before the check.
7. The battery is fully discharged if the voltage is below 12.2 V.
8. Remove the discharged battery and charge it.
Charging
PROCEDURE
Standard Batteries1. Charge the battery with a current equal to 0.1 of its capacity until the electrolyte specific gravity no longer changes for at least 4 hours.
2. The battery can also be charged with a low current of 1.5 A, left overnight.
3. Rapid charging is not recommended.
4. The electrolyte temperature during charging must not exceed 38° C.
Maintenance-Free Batteries
5. Batteries of this type require prolonged charging (up to three days, depending on the degree of discharge).
6. A partially discharged battery can be charged from a regulated power source with a voltage of 13.9–14.9 V, typically for 3 hours, until the voltage reaches 12.5 V.
7. A fully discharged battery (voltage below 12.2 V) should be charged at a specialist workshop, as continuous monitoring is required during prolonged charging.
Removal
PROCEDURE

1. Loosen the nuts and disconnect the terminal clamps (arrows) from the posts (disconnect the negative terminal first).
2. Loosen the nuts, remove the clamp, and unhook the mounting studs.
3. Remove the battery and the plastic tray.
Installation
PROCEDURE
1. Install in the reverse order.
2. Connect the positive terminal first, then the negative terminal.
3. Apply petroleum jelly to the battery terminals.
Electrolyte Specific Gravity: Above 25° C / Below 25° C. Fully charged battery: 1.21 – 1.23 / 1.27 – 1.29. 70% charged: 1.17 – 1.19 / 1.23 – 1.25. Discharged: 1.05 – 1.07 / 1.11 – 1.13
