Throttle Position Sensor (TPS)

~1min read

The throttle position sensor is located on the end of the throttle valve shaft (see subsection 5.12.).

By monitoring the sensor output voltage, the electronic control unit can adjust fuel delivery according to the throttle valve opening angle.
An open circuit or loose connections in the throttle position sensor circuit may cause fuel to inject from the injector spontaneously, resulting in rough idle, because the control unit "interprets" the changing signal as throttle valve movement.

For the procedures for testing and installing the sensor, refer to subsection 5.12.
