Crankshaft Position Sensor

Crankshaft Position Sensor Location
On some recent-model vehicles, the crankshaft position sensor (indicated by the arrow) is located near the timing belt cover, next to the pulley. The sensor sends a signal to the control module, which uses it to accurately determine the crankshaft angle.

PROCEDURE
1. Measure the crankshaft sensor resistance. It must be within 1.630–3.225 ohms depending on temperature: resistance increases as temperature rises. If the measured values are not within this range, replace the sensor.
2. To replace the sensor, remove the pulley (refer to subsection 3.1.1.6), disconnect the connector and remove the sensor mounting bolts.
3. Install the sensor in the reverse order of removal.
