Emission Control System

Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) Temperature Sensor

~1min read

The EGR temperature sensor is installed next to the EGR valve. The sensor monitors the change in exhaust gas temperature as the gas passes through the EGR valve.

Temperature information is sent to the control module, which precisely regulates the on/off timing of the valve to improve exhaust emission control efficiency. If the EGR temperature sensor malfunctions, code 71 is stored in memory.

Inspection

PROCEDURE

1. Отсоедините от разъем проводки.

1. Disconnect the harness connector.
2. Measure the sensor resistance at different temperatures. Refer to subsection 6.1 for the resistance specifications at various temperatures.

Replacement

PROCEDURE
1. Disconnect the harness connector and unscrew the sensor from the intake manifold using a open-end wrench.
2. Install in the reverse order of removal.
