Disassembly. PROCEDURE 1. Remove the snap ring 6 and the adjusting washer 7. 2. Remove the 1st gear 8 and the needle bearing 9. 3. Remove the synchronizer blocking ring 10. 4. Remove the snap ring 11. 5. Press off the 2nd gear 14 together with the synchronizer 12 and the blocking ring 13. 6. Remove the needle bearing 15. 7. Press off the 3rd gear 16. 8. Press off the 4th gear 17. Assembly. PROCEDURE 1. Check the clearance between the 1st gear 8 and the blocking ring 10, and between the 2nd gear 14 and the blocking ring 13 (refer to Subsection 5.2.2.1). 2. Press the 4th gear 17 onto shaft 2 after heating it to a temperature of 120 °C. The projection of the gear must face the direction of the 3rd gear. 3. Press the 3rd gear 16 onto shaft 2 after heating it to a temperature of 120 °C. The projection of the gear must face the direction of the 4th gear. Caution When pressing on the 3rd and 4th gears, remove all grease from the seating surfaces of the shaft and gears.

4. Lubricate the needle bearing 15 and install it on shaft 2. 5. Install the 2nd gear 14. 6. Install the synchronizer blocking ring 13. 7. Press on the synchronizer 12 so that the shift fork groove on the sliding sleeve faces the 1st gear 8, and the synchronizer keys engage the slots of the blocking ring. 8. Install a new snap ring 11. 9. Install the blocking ring 10, making sure the synchronizer keys engage the slots of the blocking ring. 10. Lubricate the needle bearing 9 and install it on shaft 2. 11. Install the 1st gear 8. 12. Install the washer 7 and a new snap ring 6.
