Intelligent Safety
With Intelligent Safety, the BMW 5 Series (VII generation) combines numerous driver assistance systems in one central control unit. These include Forward Collision Warning, Lane Departure Warning and Lane Change Warning, Evasion Assist, and Night Vision with animal and pedestrian detection. Using a dedicated button, all systems can be switched on or off together or individually. Settings such as warning timing or system behavior are adjusted conveniently via iDrive and stored per driver profile. The assistance systems help detect and avoid accidents at an early stage. However, they do not replace the driver's attention, especially when towing or in poor visibility. Therefore: use the technology, but remain responsible.
Principle Intelligent Safety enables central operation of the driver assistance systems.
General Depending on equipment, Intelligent Safety consists of one or more systems that can help avoid an impending collision.
- Forward Collision Warning with braking function.
- Evasion Assist.
- Pedestrian warning with City braking function.
- Night Vision with pedestrian and animal detection.
- Lane Departure Warning.
- Lane Change Warning.
- Side Collision Warning.
- Right-of-way warning.
