Acoustic signal
In this manual: Instrument panel and controls
~2min read
The presence and distance of the obstacle to the vehicle is indicated to the driver by acoustic signals from the buzzers installed in the vehicle interior:
- In versions with 4 rear sensors, a buzzer on the instrument panel indicates an obstacle behind the vehicle;
- In versions with 8 sensors (4 front and 4 rear), a front buzzer indicates obstacles in front of the vehicle and a rear buzzer indicates obstacles behind the vehicle. This allows the driver to identify the direction in which the obstacles are located (front/rear).
Engaging reverse gear automatically activates an intermittent acoustic signal.
The acoustic signal:
- Gets louder as the distance between the vehicle and the obstacle decreases;
- Becomes continuous when the distance between the vehicle and the obstacle is less than approx. 30 cm, and stops immediately when the distance to the obstacle increases;
- Remains constant if the distance between the obstacle and the vehicle does not change. If this condition occurs for the side sensors instead, the acoustic signal is interrupted after approx. 3 seconds, for example to avoid alerts when parking alongside walls.
For the system to work correctly, the sensors must always be free of mud, dirt, ice or snow.
During cleaning, carefully avoid scratching or damaging the sensors.
Do not use dry, rough or hard cloths. The sensors must be washed with clean water with added car shampoo.
In car washes that use steam jet or high-pressure jet washers, clean the sensors quickly, holding the nozzle more than 10 cm away.
For repainting the bumpers or for any touch-up paint work in the area of the sensors, contact only the Fiat service network. Incorrectly applied paint can impair the operation of the parking sensors.
