When parking, always watch for obstacles located above or below the sensors.
Objects at very close range may not be detected by the system and may therefore damage the vehicle or be damaged themselves.
The following conditions may affect the performance of the parking system:
- Reduced sensor sensitivity and reduced performance of the parking aid system may be caused by ice, snow, mud or multiple layers of paint.
- The sensors may detect an object that is not present ("echo interference"), caused by mechanical disturbances, for example: car washing, rain (strong wind), hail.
- The signals sent by the sensors may also be distorted by nearby ultrasonic systems (e.g. pneumatic brakes of trucks or pneumatic hammers).
- The performance of the parking aid system may also be affected by the position of the sensors, for example due to changes in setup (caused by shock absorber or suspension wear), tyre changes, excessive vehicle loading, or specific tuning that lowers the vehicle.
- Detection of obstacles in the upper part of the vehicle cannot be guaranteed, as the system detects obstacles that may obstruct the vehicle in its lower part.
