Rain sensor (where fitted)

~1min read
Regensensor

The rain sensor A-Fig. 51 is located behind the rear-view mirror in contact with the windscreen and automatically adjusts the wiper action in intermittent mode to the intensity of the rain.

The sensor has an adjustment range that progresses from the stopped wiper (no wiping) on a dry windscreen to the first continuous speed (slow continuous operation) in heavy rain.

Activation

Move the right-hand lever down one detent position.

Activation of the sensor is confirmed by a "wipe cycle".

Note: keep the glass of the windscreen clean in the sensor area.

Turning ring F-Fig. 49 increases the sensitivity of the rain sensor and gives a faster transition from the stopped wiper (no wiping) on a dry windscreen to wiping at the first continuous speed (slow continuous operation).

An increase in sensor sensitivity is confirmed by a "wipe cycle".

If the washer is switched on while the rain sensor is active, the normal washing cycle runs. Afterwards the rain sensor resumes its automatic normal operation.

Switching off

Turn the ignition key to STOP.

When the engine is next started (ignition key in MAR), the rain sensor does not switch on, even if the lever is still in position B-Fig. 49. To activate the sensor, move the lever to A or C and then back to B.

Activation of the sensor is indicated by at least one "wipe cycle", even on a dry windscreen.

Do
not activate the rain sensor when washing the car in an automatic car wash.If
ice forms on the windscreen, check that the device has been switched off.Note

To clean the windscreen, the device must be switched off.
