Radar sensor

The radar sensor is located behind the emblem attached to the radiator grille. If the emblem is dirty, covered with fallen leaves, or has a sticker on it, the CMBS is automatically deactivated and the CMBS warning light illuminates on the instrument panel (page 95).

In addition, the following symbol appears on the multi-information display:
This may be accompanied by the message "CHECK SYSTEM."
Always keep the emblem clean.
If it is dirty, wash it with water or a mild cleaning solution. Do not use solvents or polishes.

Three bolts are located on the side surfaces of the radar sensor. To prevent CMBS malfunction, do not loosen these bolts.
Protect the radar sensor and emblem from impact. If a strong impact occurs to the radar sensor or emblem, turn off the system by pressing the CMBS switch and have the vehicle inspected and repaired by a dealer. Consult your dealer before repairing the radiator grille, if necessary.
Also, take the vehicle to an authorized dealer service center if it is necessary to remove the radar sensor or emblem.
While the CMBS is active, the radar sensor constantly scans the area directly ahead of your vehicle to detect vehicles. Therefore, even when there are few or no vehicles on the road, the symbol may appear on the multi-information display.
This is completely normal and should not cause concern.
Under certain conditions, such as those described below, normal operation of the radar sensor may be temporarily impaired.
• The vehicle's longitudinal body angle has changed due to an overloaded luggage compartment or suspension modification. Do not overload the vehicle or modify the suspension.
• Improper wheel and tire maintenance. Maintain correct tire inflation pressure and install only serviceable wheels and tires of the specified design and correct size on the vehicle.
