Lubrication System - Oil Pump Installation

OIL PUMP

1. Install the inner and outer oil pump rotors into the oil pump housing. When installing, make sure the inner and outer rotors are aligned with each other (alignment marks on the rotors are matched), as shown in the illustration.

2. Install the oil pump cover and tighten the cover mounting bolts to the specified torque. After tightening the bolts, check that the oil pump rotors rotate smoothly.

Torque Oil Pump Cover Bolts : 6 - 9 N·m

3. Apply engine oil to the relief valve plunger. Install the plunger and spring of the relief valve. Tighten the relief valve plug to the specified torque.

Torque Relief Valve Plug : 40 - 50 N·m

OIL PUMP HOUSING

1. Install the oil pump housing assembly with a new gasket and tighten the housing mounting bolts to the specified torque.

Torque Oil Pump Housing Bolts : 20 - 27 N·m

OIL SEAL

1. Install the special service tool (oil seal guide 09214-32100) into the oil pump housing opening.

2. Using the special service tool (oil seal installer 09214-32000), install the oil seal into the oil pump housing.

3. Install the oil strainer.

4. Remove residual old gasket material from the oil pan flange and the cylinder block mating surface.

5. Apply sealant to the oil pan flange groove as shown in the illustration.

• Apply a sealant bead approximately 4 mm in diameter.

• Install and tighten the oil pan within 15 minutes after applying the sealant.

6. Install the oil pan and tighten its mounting bolts to the specified torque.

Torque Oil Pan Bolts : 10 - 12 N·m
