While pressing the release button (1), lower the parking brake (2).
If the parking brake does not release, it is recommended that you have the system checked by an authorized HYUNDAI dealer.
WARNING - If you leave or park the vehicle, always come to a complete stop and keep pressing the brake pedal. Move the shift lever to 1st gear (for manual transmission vehicles) or to P (Park, for automatic transmission vehicles), firmly apply the parking brake, and the ignition switch must be in the LOCK/OFF position. - If the parking brake is not fully applied, the vehicle may move unintentionally and injure people. - DO NOT allow people who are not familiar with the vehicle to touch the parking brake. If the parking brake is released unintentionally, serious injury may result. - Release the parking brake while seated in the vehicle with your feet firmly on the brake pedal. NOTICE - Do not press the accelerator pedal while the parking brake is engaged. If you press the accelerator pedal with the parking brake engaged, a sound will be emitted. Damage to the parking brake may occur. - Driving with the parking brake engaged can overheat the braking system and cause premature wear or damage to brake components. Before driving, make sure the parking brake is fully released and the warning light is off.
Check the Parking Brake Warning Light by turning the ignition to ON (do not start the engine).
This light comes on if the parking brake is applied with the ignition switch in the START or ON position.
Before driving, make sure the parking brake is fully released and the brake warning light is off.
If the Parking Brake Warning Light stays on after the parking brake has been released, a malfunction may have occurred in the brake system.
The problem must be corrected immediately.
If possible, stop driving immediately. If this is not possible, drive with extreme caution and continue until you reach a safe place.
