Hill-start Assist Control (HAC)

~1min read

The Hill-start Assist Control (HAC) prevents the vehicle from rolling backward when starting off after stopping on a hill. The system automatically applies the brakes for about 1.5 seconds and releases the brake when the accelerator pedal is pressed or after 2 seconds.

WARNING Always be ready to press the accelerator pedal when starting on a slope. HAC operates for only about 2 seconds.

NOTE

- HAC does not operate when the shift lever is in P (Park) or N (Neutral). (for automatic transaxle)

- HAC operates when:

- the shift lever is in N (Neutral) or D (Drive) when going uphill. - the shift lever is in R (Reverse) when going downhill (for manual transaxle vehicles).

- HAC operates even if ESC (Electronic Stability Control) is turned off, but does not operate when ESC is not functioning properly.
