Vehicle Stability Management (VSM) System (if equipped)
Vehicle Stability Management (VSM) helps keep the vehicle stable during sudden acceleration and braking on wet, slippery, or unpaved roads, since traction at all four wheels can suddenly become uneven.
WARNING Observe the following precautions when using Vehicle Stability Management (VSM): - Always check your speed and the distance to the vehicle ahead. VSM does not replace safe driving practices. - Do not drive at speeds that are excessive for road conditions. VSM does not prevent accidents. Driving too fast for bad weather, slippery or uneven roads can cause serious accidents.VSM Operation
VSM ON Condition
VSM operates when:
- Electronic Stability Control (ESC) is on.
- The vehicle speed is about 15 km/h or more in curves.
- The vehicle speed is about 30 km/h or more when braking on unpaved roads.
During operation
When VSM is operating, the ESC indicator light (
) flashes.
When the brakes are applied under conditions that may activate ESC, you may hear a ticking noise from the brakes, or feel a corresponding pulsation in the brake pedal. This is normal and indicates that VSM is active.
NOTE
VSM does not operate when:
- The vehicle is being driven in reverse.
- The ESC OFF indicator light (
) is on.
- Electric Power Steering (EPS) warning light (
) is on.
VSM OFF Condition
To turn off VSM, press the ESC OFF button. The ESC OFF indicator light (
) comes on.
To turn VSM back on, press the ESC OFF button again. The ESC OFF indicator light goes off.
WARNING If the ESC indicator light (
) or the Electric Power Steering (EPS) warning light (
) stays on, there may be a problem with ESC. When this warning light comes on, it is recommended that the vehicle be checked by an authorized HYUNDAI dealer. NOTICE Driving with tires or wheels of different sizes can cause ESC to malfunction. When replacing tires, make sure they are the same size as the originals.Test yourself
