Seat belt warning chime
Audible warning signals in the Kia Opirus improve safety in the cabin. They remind you to fasten your seat belt, warn when the key is left in the ignition with a door open, and signal obstacles when reversing. This section explains the differences depending on vehicle version and the logic behind the warning tones. These systems ensure that no safety-relevant detail is overlooked.
Version A
The warning chime sounds for approx. 6 seconds if the driver's seat belt is not fastened when the ignition is switched on, or if the driver's seat belt is unfastened after the ignition has been switched on.
Version B
If the driver's seat belt is not fastened when the ignition is switched on and you drive faster than 9 km/h, the seat belt warning light flashes for approx. 1 minute, followed by an audible warning signal for approx. 100 seconds.
If the driver's seat belt is unfastened after the ignition has been switched on and you drive faster than 9 km/h, an audible warning signal sounds for approx. 100 seconds.
If the driver's seat belt, which was fastened beforehand, is unfastened and refastened twice within 9 seconds, the warning chime does not sound.
Key in ignition warning chime*
The warning chime sounds when the driver's door is opened while the ignition key is in the LOCK or ACC position.
This is intended to prevent the ignition key from being left in the vehicle and locked inside.
Parking Assist warning chime*
When the Parking Assist sensors detect an obstacle within 100 cm behind the rear bumper while reversing (with the ignition on), a warning tone sounds at intervals. The intervals become shorter as the distance decreases. Further information on Parking Assist can be found on the next page.
