Seat Belt Warning Light
The seat belt, fog light and gear position indicator lights provide important information while driving. They warn not only when a belt is unfastened, but also indicate shifting faults or defective tail lights. This chapter explains typical malfunctions and recommends immediate inspection, especially in the event of circuit faults. This keeps the Kia Opirus roadworthy and compliant with regulations at all times.

Version A
To remind the driver and front passenger to fasten their seat belts, the seat belt warning light flashes for approx. 6 seconds each time the ignition is switched on.
If the driver's seat belt is not fastened when the ignition is switched on, or is unfastened after the ignition has been switched on, the seat belt warning light flashes for approx. 6 seconds. If the system does not function as described, have your vehicle checked by an authorized KIA dealer.
Version B
To remind the driver to fasten the seat belts, the seat belt warning light flashes or illuminates for approx. 6 seconds each time the ignition is switched on.
If the driver's seat belt is not fastened when the ignition is switched on, or is unfastened after the ignition has been switched on, the seat belt warning light flashes or lights up until the belt is fastened.
However, if the previously fastened driver's belt is opened and closed again 2 times within 9 seconds, the seat belt warning light and the audible signal will not be activated.
If the system does not function as described, have your vehicle checked by an authorized KIA dealer.
Front Fog Light Indicator Light*
This light illuminates when the front fog lights are switched on.
Gear Position Indicator Lights
These lights show the currently selected gear position.
Brake/Tail Light Malfunction Warning Light
This warning light indicates a fault in the brake light and tail light circuit, for example if a bulb has burned out.
If this warning light illuminates, first check whether a brake light or tail light bulb has burned out.
If the warning light illuminates although no bulb has burned out, have your vehicle checked by an authorized KIA dealer.
The seat belt warning light and supplementary systems of the Kia Opirus 2003–2011 reliably remind you to fasten your seat belt. They make a decisive contribution to occupant safety and help prevent serious injuries.
Additional indicator lights, such as those for the front fog lights and gear positions, support the driver in everyday driving and increase vehicle comfort. The Kia Opirus thus stands for well-engineered technology and vehicle safety.
Early detection of faults, such as in the brake light or tail light circuit, provides greater safety and reliability in everyday operation.
