SPORT Mode Indicator Light (ECS Warning Light)*. TCS Indicator Light (Traction Control System)*. TCS OFF Indicator Light*. ESP Indicator Light (Electronic Stability Program)*

~2min read

SPORT mode, TCS, TCS OFF and ESP in the Kia Opirus provide individual driving dynamics and safety. While SPORT mode firms up the suspension, the TCS system controls traction, especially on slippery surfaces. This section clearly shows when indicator lights become active and when a system fault may be present. For sporty or demanding driving situations, the Opirus offers reliable support with these systems.

SPORT Mode Indicator Light (ECS Warning Light)*

The ECS system automatically switches to Normal mode when the engine is started. The SPORT indicator light illuminates when the ignition is switched on, but goes out after approx. 3 seconds.

To obtain firmer suspension tuning, select SPORT mode (SPT). After pressing the ECS button on the center console, the SPORT indicator light illuminates. To return to the softer suspension tuning of Normal mode (NOR), press the ECS button again.

If the SPORT indicator light flashes for more than a few seconds, there may be a fault in the ECS system. Have the system checked by an authorized KIA dealer.

TCS Indicator Light (Traction Control System)*

The TCS indicator light illuminates when the ignition is switched on, but goes out after approx. 3 seconds.

When TCS control engages while driving, the TCS indicator light flashes.

Under normal driving conditions, the light remains off. If slippery road surfaces or insufficient traction are detected, TCS control engages and the TCS indicator light flashes to indicate this.

TCS OFF Indicator Light*

The TCS OFF indicator light illuminates when the ignition is switched on, but goes out after approx. 3 seconds. To switch off the TCS system, press the TCS button. The TCS OFF indicator light then illuminates and indicates that the TCS system is deactivated. If this indicator light remains illuminated while the TCS system is switched on, there may be a fault in the TCS system. Have the system checked by an authorized KIA dealer.

ESP Indicator Light (Electronic Stability Program)*

The ESP indicator light illuminates when the ignition is switched on, but goes out after approx. 3 seconds.

The ESP system, when switched on, monitors driving conditions.

Under normal driving conditions, the ESP indicator light remains off. If slippery road surfaces or insufficient traction are detected, ESP control engages and the ESP indicator light flashes to indicate this.

The indicator lights for Sport mode, TCS and ESP in the Kia Opirus 2003–2011 reliably inform the driver about the status of these systems. They actively support driving safety and allow individual adjustment to road conditions.

The interaction of these systems ensures stable handling even under difficult conditions and increases driving comfort. The Kia Opirus thus offers a well-designed concept for maximum safety.

Being able to switch off individual systems is useful, but it should be used with care so as not to compromise vehicle safety.
