TEST

Make sure that the auto light control operates according to the following timing chart. The tail lamp output and headlamp output (low) are controlled based on input signals from the vehicle light sensor (illumination intensity) when the light switch in the combination switch is on and the vehicle is in IGN1 or IGN2 ON mode. When IGN1 = ON, the BCM checks this voltage, and if the voltage exceeds the specified value, a malfunction occurs in the auto light function. (Below 4 V or above 6 V)

If the combination switch detects that the headlight switch is ON with the ignition ON (IGN1 ON), the tail lamp relay output and the low beam relay output are controlled according to the input signal from the auto light sensor. Automatic lighting control does not operate when the power supply to the sunlight sensor (regulated 5 V from IGN1 to the sunlight sensor) is shorted to ground. When IGN1 is ON, the BCM monitors this power supply circuit and sets a DTC when the supply voltage is out of the specified range. When this DTC is set, the headlights remain ON regardless of the sunlight data provided by the sensor until the DTC is cleared. This is done so that the headlights do not turn off at night when this fault occurs.

expansion

  1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.

  2. Remove the auto light sensor (A).

  3. Disconnect the auto light sensor connector (B).

Installation

  1. Connect the auto light sensor connector.

  2. Install the auto light sensor.

  3. Connect the negative (-) battery terminal.
