Kühlmittelstand prüfen
WARNING
Removing the Radiator Cap
- Never try to remove the radiator cap when the engine is running or still hot. This may damage the cooling system and engine. Hot coolant or steam may also cause serious personal injury.
- Turn off the engine and wait until it cools down. Be extremely careful when removing the radiator cap. Wrap a thick cloth around it and turn it slowly counterclockwise to the first stop. Step back while the pressure in the cooling system is released. When you are sure all pressure has been released, press down on the cap with a thick cloth and turn it further counterclockwise to remove it.
• Even if the engine is off, do not remove the radiator cap or drain plug while the engine and radiator are still hot. Hot coolant and steam can still spray out under pressure and cause serious injury.
WARNING
The electric cooling fan (radiator fan) is controlled according to engine coolant temperature, refrigerant pressure and vehicle speed.
The fan may sometimes operate when the engine is not running. Be very careful when working near the fan blades so you are not injured by the rotating blades. When the engine coolant temperature drops, the fan motor switches off automatically. This is normal.

Inspect all cooling system hoses and heater hoses for condition and leaks. Replace any swollen or worn hoses.
The coolant level must be between the MAX and MIN (F and L) marks on the coolant reservoir when the engine is cold. If the coolant level is too low, fill with sufficient distilled (deionized) water up to the MAX (F) mark. However, do not overfill. If coolant is frequently added, have the system inspected at a specialized workshop. Kia recommends visiting a Kia dealer or authorized service partner.
Recommended Engine Coolant
- Use only deionized or soft water mixed with the factory-fill coolant to fill the cooling system. Never use hard tap water. An incorrect coolant mixture may cause serious malfunctions and result in engine damage.
- The aluminum engine components of your vehicle must be protected against corrosion and freezing with ethylene glycol-based coolant.
- NEVER use alcohol or methanol-based coolants, and never mix them with any other coolant.
- Do not use a mixture containing more than 60% or less than 35% antifreeze, otherwise the protective effect will be impaired.
Refer to the mixing ratio table below.

WARNING
Radiator cap

Open the radiator cap only if the engine and radiator are cold. Otherwise, scalding from hot coolant or hot steam under high pressure may occur, resulting in serious injury.
