TEST

radiator hoses

  1. Inspect the radiator hoses for the following:

    1. Poor connection

    2. leaks

    3. cracks

    4. damage

    5. loose connections

    6. Chafing

    7. deterioration

coolant level

  1. Check the coolant level in the reserve tank. Make sure it is between the "F" and "L" marks.

  2. If the coolant level in the reserve tank is below the "L" mark, add the appropriate amount of coolant to a level between the "L" and "F" marks, then check the cooling system for leaks.

coolant condition

  1. Remove the radiator cap.

  2. Check for excessive rust or scale build-up around the radiator cap and filler neck. Also check that the coolant does not contain oil residue.

If necessary, clean the coolant passages and replace the coolant.

  3. Install the radiator cap.

Removal, Installation and Bleeding

  1. Make sure the engine and radiator have cooled sufficiently to touch by hand.

  2. Unscrew the radiator cap (A).

    [Kappa 1.0 T-GDI]

    [Kappa 1.2 MPa, 1.4 MPa]

  3. Remove the engine undercover.

(Refer to Engine Mechanical - "Engine Under Cover")

  4. Loosen the drain plug (A) and drain the coolant.

  5. Tighten the radiator drain plug securely.

  6. Remove, drain, and reinstall the reservoir tank. Fill the reservoir with water to the halfway point between MIN and MAX, then fill to the MAX mark with antifreeze.

  7. Fill the radiator with coolant through the radiator cap and sealed cap. Install.

8th.

Start the engine and let it warm up to normal operating temperature. Wait until the cooling fans have switched on several times. Rev the engine so that trapped air can escape more easily. Stop the engine.

  1. Allow the engine to cool.

  2. Repeat steps 1 through 8 until the drained water is clean.

  3. Pour the coolant and water mixture (45 - 60%) (except North America, Europe and China: 45 - 50%) slowly through the radiator cap.

Move the lower/upper radiator hose so that air can escape freely.

  4. Start the engine and allow the coolant to circulate.

  5. When the radiator fan is running and coolant is circulating, add coolant through the radiator cap.

  6. Repeat step 11 until the cooling fan has cycled on and off 3-5 times, then bleed the cooling system sufficiently.

  7. Remove the reservoir cap and fill the reservoir with coolant to the "MAX" (or "F") mark (A).

  8. Let the vehicle idle until the cooling fan has cycled 2-3 times.

  9. Stop the engine and wait for the coolant to cool down.

  10. Repeat steps 10 through 15 to bleed the cooling system until the coolant level no longer drops.

    Coolant capacity:

    [Kappa 1.0 T-GDI]

    Approx. 6 L

    [KAPPA 1.2 MPI]

    approx. 5.1 L

    [Kappa 1.4 MPI]

    MT: approx. 4.5 L

    AT: approx. 4.9 L

[1.6 TCI NEW U]

If KDS is available, replace the coolant as follows.

  1. Make sure the engine and radiator have cooled sufficiently to touch by hand.

  2. Unscrew the radiator cap (A).

  3. Remove the engine undercover.

    D 1.6 TCI-NEW U (see Engine Mechanical - "Under Engine Cover")

  4. Loosen the drain plug (A) and drain the coolant.

  5. Tighten the radiator drain plug securely.

  6. Drain the engine coolant from the reservoir tank, then remove the tank and clean it.

D 1.6 TCI NEW U (see Engine Mechanical - "Expansion Tank")

  7. Slowly fill the coolant and water mixture (45-50%) through the radiator cap.

    Coolant capacity: approx. 6.2 L

8th.

Start the engine.

  1. Connect the KDS.

  2. Start the "Integrated Thermal Management Module Coolant Filling Mode".

  3. Keep the engine at idle until the radiator fan has cycled on and off 3-5 times.

  4. After exiting KDS, first turn the engine off, then start it again.

  5. Install the radiator cap (A).

  6. Check the engine coolant level.

  7. Fill the coolant.

  8. Install the lower engine cover.

    D 1.6 TCI-NEW U (see Engine Mechanical - "Under Engine Cover")

If KDS is not available, replace the coolant as follows.

8th.

Disconnect the connector (A) of the Integrated Thermal Management Module (ITM).

  1. Start the engine.

  2. Keep the engine at idle until the radiator fan has cycled on and off 3-5 times.

  3. After turning the engine off, disconnect the connector (A) of the Integrated Thermal Management Module (ITM).

  4. Start the engine.

  5. Check the operating noise of the Integrated Thermal Management Module (ITM) to determine whether it is operating properly.

  6. Check the coolant after starting the vehicle.

  7. Fill the coolant.

  8. Install the lower engine cover.

    D 1.6 TCI-NEW U (see Engine Mechanical - "Under Engine Cover")
