Tire Replacement

~3min read

With even tire wear, a wear indicator (A) appears over time across the width of the tread. It indicates that the remaining tread depth is less than 1.6 mm. Replace the tire as soon as this occurs.

Do not wait to replace the tire until the wear indicator is visible across the entire width of the tread.

WARNING

We recommend using the same tires that were originally supplied with the vehicle when replacing tires, as otherwise the handling characteristics may change.

WARNING

Check the wheel nuts about 50 km after tire replacement and retighten if necessary, then check again after approximately 1,000 km. If the steering wheel shakes or the vehicle vibrates while driving, the tires are not balanced. Have the tires balanced. If the problem is not resolved, contact a qualified workshop. Kia recommends visiting a Kia dealer/service partner.

WARNING

Tire Replacement

Um die Möglichkeit schwerer oder tödlicher Verletzungen durch einen Unfall, der durch einen Reifenschaden oder den Verlust der Kontrolle über das Fahrzeug verursacht wurde, zu reduzieren:

  • Replace tires that are worn, show uneven wear or are damaged. Worn tires can impair the effectiveness of the braking and steering systems and road grip.
  • Do not drive the vehicle with too low or too high tire pressure. This can cause uneven wear and tire damage.
  • When replacing tires, never use belted and bias-ply tires on the same vehicle at the same time. If you change from belted tires to bias-ply tires, you must replace all tires (including the spare tire).
  • Using tire and wheel sizes other than those specified may cause unusual handling and inadequate control of the vehicle, and may lead to a serious accident.
  • Wheels that do not meet Kia specifications, and whose fit may not be correct, can damage the vehicle and cause unusual handling and inadequate control of the vehicle.
  • ABS operation depends on comparing wheel speeds, and tire size affects wheel speed. When replacing tires, all four tires must be the same size as originally supplied with the vehicle. Using tires of different sizes may cause the ABS (Anti-lock Braking System) and ESC (Electronic Stability Control) to not function properly.
  • Ideally, replace all four tires at the same time. If this is not possible or necessary, replace the two front tires or the two rear tires as a pair. Replacing only one tire may significantly affect vehicle handling.

Notradbereifung ersetzen (ausstattungsabhängig)

The spare tire tread has a shorter service life than that of standard tires. Replace the tire when the tread wear indicators become visible. The new tire for the spare wheel must be identical in size and construction to the original tire supplied with the new vehicle, and must be on the same wheel. The spare tire is not suitable for mounting on a standard wheel, and the spare wheel is not suitable for mounting a standard tire.
