Tire Rotation

~1min read

To equalize tire wear, it is recommended to rotate the tires between the front and rear axles at least every 10,000 km.

When rotating the tires, check that the wheels are properly balanced.

When rotating the tires, inspect them for uneven wear and damage. Uneven wear usually results from incorrect tire pressure, incorrect wheel alignment and unbalanced wheels. Other causes include hard braking and fast cornering. Check the tread surfaces and sidewalls for deformation. Replace the tire if deformation is found. Replace tires where the cord or steel belt is visible. After tire rotation, correct the tire pressure (front/rear) and make sure the wheel nuts are tightened.

Refer to "Tires and Wheels" in Section 9-06.

When rotating the tires, check the disc brake pads for wear.

WARNING

Directional tires may only be rotated between the front and rear axle on the same side of the vehicle, not between the right and left sides of the vehicle.

WARNING

  • Beziehen Sie ein Notrad nicht in den Reifentausch ein.
  • Never use different tire constructions at the same time (e.g., radial and bias-belted tires). Otherwise, handling will be impaired. There is a risk of injury, death and vehicle damage.
