Description and Operation

Description

The exhaust gas temperature sensor (EGTS) No. 1 for the WGT is installed in the exhaust manifold and measures the temperature of the exhaust gas flowing into the WGT. The exhaust gas temperature sensor (EGTS) No. 2 for the GPF is installed in the gasoline particulate filter (GPF) assembly and measures the temperature of the exhaust gas flowing into the GPF. When the specified engine conditions are met, the ECM burns off the soot collected in the GPF using the exhaust gas. At this time, the exhaust gas temperature is an important factor in engine condition.

Repair Procedures

Inspection

  1. Turn the ignition off.
  2. Disconnect the exhaust gas temperature sensor No. 1/No. 2 connector.
  3. Measure the resistance between the sensor signal terminal and the ground terminal.
  4. Make sure the resistance is within specification. Exhaust Gas Temperature Sensor [EGTS No. 1, No. 2 (T3, T4)]
