Description and Operation
Description
The accelerator position sensor (APS) is installed on the accelerator pedal module and detects the angle of the accelerator pedal. Since the APS is one of the most important sensors in the engine control system, it consists of two sensors, each with a separate power supply line and ground line. The second sensor monitors the first sensor, and its output voltage is half that of the first one. If the ratio between sensors 1 and 2 is out of range (approximately 1/2), the diagnostic system determines that it is abnormal.

Repair Procedures
Inspection
- Connect the KDS to the Data Link Connector (DLC).
- Turn the ignition on.
- Measure the output voltage of APS 1 and 2 at C.T. and W.O.T.

Removal
- Turn the ignition switch OFF and disconnect the negative (-) battery terminal.
- Disconnect the accelerator position sensor connector (A).
- Loosen the mounting nuts (B) and remove the accelerator pedal module. Accelerator pedal module mounting nut: 12.7 - 15.7 N·m Accelerator pedal module mounting bolt: 8.8 - 13.7 N·m

Installation
- Install in the reverse order of removal.
