5. Remove the plug from the hole in the brake backing plate.

6. Вставьте отвертку в это отверстие, затем пропустите отвертку через отверстие

6. Insert a screwdriver into this hole, then pass it through the hole in the brake shoe until it rests against the parking brake lever. Tap the screwdriver lightly to release the adjuster mechanism, then retract the brake shoes.

7. If the same drum is to be installed, make alignment marks.

8. Remove the drum from the wheel studs.

9. Если барабан все же не поддается снятию, то сместите его, равномерно заворачивая

9. If the drum still cannot be removed, displace it by evenly tightening M8 bolts into the special threaded holes.

Inspection WARNING Drums must be replaced in pairs and together with a set of brake shoes.

PROCEDURE

1. Carefully clean dust and dirt from the drum.

2. Check the drum for cracks and signs of wear (pay special attention to the areas near the stud holes).

3. Check the condition of the inner surface. If deep scoring is present, replace the drum.

4. If a lip has formed on the inner surface of the drum due to wear, replace the drum. A lip formed by corrosion or dirt deposits must be removed with fine emery cloth.

5. Check the drum for out-of-round by measuring the diameter in two perpendicular directions. Out-of-round can be corrected by machining, provided the diameter after machining does not fall below the service limit.

Installation

PROCEDURE

1. Remove the preservative from the new drum.

2. Shorten the spacer by turning the toothed nut so the drum can be installed.

3. Install the drum, aligning the marks made earlier (if reinstalling the removed drum).

4. Depress the brake pedal several times.

5. Adjust the parking brake.

6. Install the wheel and lower the vehicle.

7. Before driving, check the operation of the brakes.
