Adjustment
PROCEDURE
1. Measure the distance from the pedal to the floor.
2. If necessary, remove the lower instrument panel on the driver's side (see subsection 13.26).
3. Remove the trim panel at the driver's footwell, disconnect the clips and remove the floor mat to access the opening in the floor sound insulation.
4. Remove the cover and check the pedal height.
5. Compare with the specified value.
6. If necessary, adjust the pedal as follows.
7. Loosen the pushrod locknut and turn the pushrod to set the required pedal height.
8. Tighten the locknut to the specified torque.
9. Check the pedal free play, which is the pedal travel until slight resistance is felt.
10. After releasing the pedal, the brake light must go out.
11. Otherwise, replace the switch (the switch is secured to the pedal bracket with a bayonet connection and is not adjustable).
12. Start the engine and check the depressed pedal height at idle.
13. If the height is less than specified, the brakes are faulty.
14. In this case, replace the brake fluid in the hydraulic system and bleed the air.
15. If this does not help, check the condition of the master cylinder and wheel cylinders.
16. When finished, install all removed panels.
