Brakes

Brake Hydraulic System

~2min read

GENERAL INFORMATION

To brake effectively, air must be removed from the hydraulic system.

When bleeding air, it is prohibited to top up with used fluid.

PROCEDURE

1. If fluids other than the recommended one get into the system, flush the system and replace all seals.

2. Before bleeding, eliminate any leak in the hydraulic system.

3. Park the vehicle on level ground, stop the engine and apply the parking brake.

4. Remove the caps and thoroughly clean all bleeder valves.

5. Remove the reservoir cap and top up the fluid to the MAX mark.

6. Do not tighten the cap fully; keep the fluid level above the MIN mark at all times.

7. If no special kit is available, bleeding should be performed by two persons.

8. When using a special kit, follow the instructions supplied with the kit.

9. Regardless of method, observe the bleeding sequence.

10. If the hydraulic system is partially depressurized, it is sufficient to bleed air only from the depressurized circuit.

11. Brake bleeding sequence: rear left, front right, rear right, front left.

12. Prepare a transparent container and a hose.

13. Оденьте шланг на штуцер (слева стрелкой указан колпачок штуцера).

13. Install the hose onto the bleeder valve (the arrow on the left indicates the bleeder valve cap).

14. Place the other end of the hose into the container, with a small amount of fluid poured in.

15. Check the fluid level in the reservoir.

16. Ask an assistant to press the brake pedal several times and hold it.

17. Loosen the bleeder valve by 1 turn. When fluid stops flowing, tighten the bleeder valve and ask the assistant to release the pedal.

18. Check the fluid level in the reservoir.

19. Repeat this cycle until air is removed from the system, as indicated by the absence of bubbles in the fluid flowing through the hose. Wait approximately 5 seconds between cycles.

20. Install the dust cap, tighten the bleeder valve, remove the hose, and install the cap.

21. Repeat the procedure on the remaining wheels.

22. Check the fluid level in the reservoir.

23. After bleeding is completed, the brake pedal must feel firm.

24. If not, repeat the procedure.

25. If the pedal remains soft after repeating the bleeding procedure, the cause is wear of the cylinder seals.
