Brake Booster and Check Valve

GENERAL INFORMATION

BRAKE BOOSTER WITH INTEGRAL VALVE The valve is inserted into the front of the booster housing.

Removal

PROCEDURE

1. Loosen the clamp and disconnect the hose from the valve.

2. Remove the valve from the rubber seal by turning it from side to side and pulling toward you.

3. Remove the seal.

Inspection

PROCEDURE

1. Check the condition of the valve. The valve must allow airflow in one direction only.

2. If necessary, replace the valve.

3. If there is damage, replace the seal.

Installation

PROCEDURE

1. Install the seal into the booster housing.

2. Carefully insert the valve without damaging the boot.

3. Connect the hose.

4. Start the engine and make sure the check valve does not leak.

BRAKE BOOSTER WITH REMOTE VALVE The valve is installed in the vacuum line and secured to the body with a bracket.

Removal

PROCEDURE

1. Remove the valve from the bracket.

2. The arrow on the valve must point toward the hose connected to the intake manifold.

3. Loosen the clamp and disconnect the hoses from the valve.

Inspection See above.

Installation

PROCEDURE

1. Install the valve in the reverse order of removal.

2. Start the engine and check the hose and valve connections for leaks.
