GENERAL INFORMATION

The fuel shut-off valve on the injection pump opens the fuel supply when the ignition is switched on. Check it if the engine does not start or keeps running after the ignition is switched off.

PROCEDURE

1. Have an assistant switch the ignition on. The valve should click.

2. Disconnect the electrical connector from the fuel shut-off valve.

3. Connect a voltmeter or LED test light to the wiring harness connector and to ground. Switch the ignition on (12 V battery). If there is no voltage, check the wiring against the wiring diagram.

4. Connect an ohmmeter between the valve terminal and ground. Resistance should be 0 ohms.

5. If necessary, unscrew the valve and check that the plunger moves freely and that the spring is in good condition.

6. Install a new fuel shut-off valve and tighten to 20 N·m. Connect the cable.

7. Bleed air from the fuel system.
