Belt routing

1. Adjusting screw (for power steering pump belt)

2. Lock nut 10 N·m. (for power steering pump adjusting screw, tightening torque: 25 N·m.)

3. Water pump pulley

4. Power steering pump

5. Alternator

6. Air conditioning compressor

7. Idler pulley

8. Crankshaft pulley

9. Lock nut, 30 N·m. (for idler pulley)

10. Adjusting screw (for air conditioning compressor belt)

11. Lock nut, 20 N·m. (for alternator adjusting screw, tightening torque: 25 N·m.)

12. Adjusting screw (for alternator belt)

If the old belt is to be reinstalled, inspect it for wear and damage. If the belt sides are frayed, or there are cracks or tears, always replace the V-ribbed belt. When installing the belt, make sure it seats correctly on all pulleys.

V-Ribbed Belt Tension Inspection: Always check V-ribbed belt tension with the engine cold.

PROCEDURE

1. Press the belt down with your thumb between the pulleys (see "Black marks" in the Belt routing illustration).

2. Measure the deflection and compare it with the specified value. Press the belt with a force of 100 N (10 kg). This corresponds to a firm thumb press. If necessary, pull the belt down with a spring scale.

3. If the specified value is exceeded, tension the belt.

V-Belt Replacement

PROCEDURE

1. Loosen the lock nut.

2. Turn the adjusting screw until the belt can be removed.

3. Remove the V-ribbed belt.

4. Install a new V-ribbed belt and adjust the bolt to the specified tension.

5. Tighten the lock nut.
